San Jose FC College Showcase Results
San Jose FC College Showcase Q and A CLICK HERE FOR TOURNAMENT RESULTS Click on link to see which college coaches are attending When and where is the Event? It will be held at the Morgan Hill sports complex on May 12th and 13th. Is it Invite only? Yes I wanted to keep the standard of play as high as possible. I felt if I invited only the top eight teams in Northern California the level would be high and it would give the college coaches the cream of the crop to choose from How were you able to get so many college coaches to attend the event? I have a relationship with most of the Division 1 colleges on the west coast and throughout the country. I also know many of the D2, D3 and Naia college coaches. I told them I was going to put together a showcase for the top 8 teams in Northern California in the u15-u17 age groups. All of the coaches felt like it would be a great place to scout. I was also very honest with them saying if I am not able to get the top teams I would not have the event. Why did you decide to have an event like this? I felt like youth soccer has become way too expensive. We have soccer academies in the San Jose area that are charging 8,000 dollars a year to play for them. This is fundamentally what is wrong with the sport in this country. I wanted to put together an event where it would attract the top college coaches as well as give an opportunity for top local players to receive a tremendous amount of college exposure. How many college coaches are attending? Presently there are 25 committed colleges attending. I anticipate over 50 will attend throughout the weekend. Some that have confirmed are Stanford, Cal, University of Washington, San Jose State, Santa Clara, West Virginia, Cal Poly, UCSB, U of Portland, Lmu and many more. Can Teams that were not selected apply to get in the showcase? It was very difficult to pick the top 8 teams. There are 3 to 4 alternates for each age group in case a team is unable to participate. If a team feels that they should have been included feel free to send an email to sanjosefcshowcase@gmail.com and explain why you feel like you should be included in the top 8. How much does the showcase cost and how many games does each team play? The cost per team is 600 dollars. This covers the fields, refs, and miscellaneous expenses. This is not a for profit tournament. Each team will play 3 games with some players being selected by the college coaches to play in an all-star game at the end of the showcase.
